What Is Bittrex?

Bittrex Global is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange. Established in 2014, it is registered with the Financial Market Authority in Liechtenstein, regulated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority, and licensed under the Bermuda Digital Asset Business Act 2018 to operate as a digital asset exchange, provide custodial wallet services and operate as a digital asset exchange provider.

Who Are the Bittrex Founders?

Bittrex was established by cybersecurity engineers Bill Shihara, Richie Lai and Rami Kawach.

Richie Lai graduated from the University of Central Florida, where he studied Computer Science. Then got a job at Amazon, where he built a career for 12 years in the department of security engineering and internet crimes. After that, Lai worked for Amazon for seven years in Information Security Team and ran the global 24/7 security center. Currently, Lai is the CEO of Bittrex.

Bill Shihara studied at the University of Southern California. He started his career at Microsoft, then served as the Manager of Security Threat Analysis/Security Engineering at Blackberry. Before co-founding BitMEX, he was a Security Engineering Manager at Amazon.

Rami Kawach served as a Principal Security Engineer at Amazon. He managed security issues. On top of that, Kawach worked as the Director of Engineering at Qualys. For ten years he also led multiple projects at Microsoft.

When Did Bittrex Launch?
